In the online interaction, Kumar answered a number of questions on the topics ranging from Bihar’s pride and PM’s comment on his DNA to Snake and Sandalwood controversy, from Caste based issues to the issues related to state’s development, from his alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav and his party RJD to the former ‘Dalit’ chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and from his demand for the special status for Bihar to the teachers’ problem in the state.
Here are the questions and their respective answers by Nitish Kumar:
@ravishndtv: Namaste, read your letter. Do you think PM Modi are personally targeting you? Are you too?
@NitishKumar: He would know about himself. Its not my habit to personally target anyone.
@ravishndtv: Do you think PM Modi are personally targeting you? I did not get the answer.
@ravishndtv: If you win, who will be the deputy chief minister? Somebody from Lalu Yadav’s family?
@NitishKumar: Today, our priority is not to let BJP have its way in Bihar. Rest is future.
@ravishndtv: Will you take Lalu Yadav along in your political campaign? Why is he absent from the posters? Are you …?
@NitishKumar: Information will be shared about the joint event of the alliance.
@ravishndtv: Like BJP, are you too trying to reach non-residential Biharis, in and outside India? How?
@NitishKumar: May be it’s a new thing for BJP, but I have always made efforts for this.
@ravishndtv: On my time-line, there are people saying you are arrogant. Kindly answer.
@NitishKumar: The entire country and the world knows about the arrogance of the people who make such allegations.
@ravishndtv: Last questions, there is a serious problem regarding teachers. Who are on the contract basis. Why don’t you find a permanent solution?
@NitishKumar: This problem had been solved permanently. The teachers have been given the pay-scale.
@ravishndtv: Answer honestly. Which is the one thing you could not do in last ten years? You have been failed?
@NitishKumar: I could not do all the things I wanted to do in the field of higher education. I am not failed, still making the efforts.
@ravishndtv: So you think there is a polarization of the upper caste against you?
@NitishKumar: I don’t think so.
@ravishndtv: How many caste based meetings have you attended so far? What are your views of such meetings which are taking places for last two months?
@NitishKumar: You have better information than I that who are participating in such meetings. I’ve not been in any of caste based meetings for last several years.
@bhupendrachaube: Do you in hindsight feel, Jitan manjhee could’ve been coaxed into staying back with u? Did u mishandle it?
@NitishKumar: I take the responsibility of making him the CM for which I have publicly apologised. His removal was a collective party decision.
@bhupendrachaube: How do you respond to those who say that your performance in 2nd stint as CM had been off colour?
@NitishKumar: The facts & figures don’t support your statement as our performance improved during the second term and has been eventful.
@bhupendrachaube: Aren’t you worried that your alliance with Lalu may actually end up creating a dent on your own image ?
@NitishKumar: Don’t worry. My image is not fragile!
@bhupendrachaube: What did you mean when you alluded to Chandan and snake?? Were u taking a swipe at lalu?
@NitishKumar: No. It was in reference to my past association with BJP.
@firstpost: You have said you will not contest a seat this time? What does this mean?
@NitishKumar: I have said nothing. It is all speculative.
@firstpost: Why are you still asking for special status for Bihar when you have been given more money by Finance Commission?
@NitishKumar: This is factually incorrect. The fact is, share of Bihar has been reduced by the 14th Finance Commission. Any way, special status is not linked to the allocations of the Finance Commission.
@firstpost: Are you trying to imitate what PM Modi did in Bihar? Treat attacks on you as an attack on Bihar?
@NitishKumar: So are we to believe he did so?
@firstpost: Since PM Modi criticised you and not Bihar, what is the purpose of writing an open letter to PM about Bihar’s DNA?
@NitishKumar: I am Son of Bihar so biologically my DNA is similar to that of people of Bihar. In my view the comment was made because I represent the people of Bihar against whom they have a prejudice.
@BDUTT: #NKLetterToModi says PM must withdraw ‘DNA” comment. What made you write letter now?
@NitishKumar: It has been troubling me since the comment was made, but as he is scheduled to come to Bihar again. I thought this is the right time to request him to withdraw his words.
@BDUTT: After #NKLetterToModi is this ‘DNA” controversy a major election issue for you? Or about all Biharis?
@NitishKumar: It is not an election issue for me. It is a question of ‘Bihari Asmita’.
@BDUTT: In #NKLetterToModi you quote @nitin_gadkari comments on caste. Is Caste not a big factor in elections?
@NitishKumar: Caste is the reality of Indian society and Bihar is no different from any other state.
@BDUTT: Are you concerned that @laluprasadrjd alliance is not going smoothly & how does it impact your image?
@NitishKumar: I don’t see any problem in the alliance, it’s a political process and it is no different from any other alliance.
@BDUTT: In many ways NaMo himself was the central issue in 2014 campaign. Is this election a referendum on you?
@NitishKumar: This election is a referendum on my policies and the track record
@BDUTT: Are you looking for a retraction or apology from PM? And since both unlikely, what’s next?
@NitishKumar: A retraction. If it doesn’t happen I will leave the judgment to the people
@BDUTT: PM accused you of abandoning a MahaDalit like Manjhi. Your comments?
@NitishKumar: I selected him as my colleague, not because of his caste. If the PM is so concerned, why is he now not declaring him as the CM candidate of NDA?
@BDUTT: How do you describe @laluprasadrjd-ally, collaborator, friend, opponent with whom u have temporary truce?
@BDUTT: How do you react to @rsprasad saying you invited guests to dinner & then canceled. He says “not tradition of Bihar”.
@NitishKumar: I have reiterated time and again that the dinner was canceled by them and not by me and if it was such a big issue why did they contest 2010 elections under my leadership after that episode?
@BDUTT: If you win Bihar you will have to have a working relation with Centre. Could you work together w/ PM when needed?
@BBCHindi: Mr Modi had made personal accusations against you. Why are you associating it with the entire Bihar?
@NitishKumar: Because I represent the people of Bihar, against whom they are having pre-conceived notions. I’m ‘son of Bihar’ and that’s why my DNA is like any of Bihari. I believe that this comment was made only because of this cause.
@BBCHindi: The DNA of your political campaign is similar to Modi. Why so?
@NitishKumar: The mode of connecting with the people can be similar in an election. But the main things are the thought, purpose and sight.
@BBCHindi: You twit was ‘liptat rahe bhujang (snake is embracing), in which you were sandalwood, who was snake?
@NitishKumar: BJP.
@drsandeepNEWS24: Why Nitish Kumar, who always talks about development, is behind the Central government for publishing the caste based census report?
@NitishKumar: SECC means social, economic and caste based census and all the party had allowed it in unison. And now when the census is done, why there is a problem in publishing the report?
@drsandeepNEWS24: What is the reason you decided not to contest election? Why there is a dilemma in direct contest with the BJP?
@NitishKumar: The alliance is contesting this elections in my leadership. Dilemma is in the BJP which has yet not declared their candidate.
@drsandeepNEWS24: If you and @laluprasadrjd contest on the equal seats in the election and RJD gets more seats, would you accept RJD’s CM?
@NitishKumar: You don’t worry. The future of Bihar is safe.
@betwasharma: you have called @ShatruganSinha the “pride of Bihar”… would you like him to join the JD(U)?
@NitishKumar: Irrespective of which party he belongs to, he is indeed the pride of Bihar.
@betwasharma: you have called @ShatruganSinha the “pride of Bihar”… would you like him to join the JD(U)?
@NitishKumar: It is his call.
@betwasharma: Are you genuinely hurt by @narendramodi’s “DNA” remark, or is this an election tactic to score points?
@NitishKumar: My sentiments are reflected in my letter, it is for the people to judge.
@rahulkanwal: Sir do you think you erred by ignoring social media in the run up to the general elections? Remember you dismissing chidiya
@NitishKumar: I am always open to learn new things
@mukatipankaj: You think you’re sandalwood, poison is also not able to affect. Then why such dissent?
@NitishKumar: Because sandalwood and poison was regarding me but the statement regarding DNA is about the people of Bihar.
@mukatipankaj: With the help of DNA, whether you are trying a ‘Jai Bihar’ like Bal Thakrey’s ‘Jai Maharastra’?
@NitishKumar: I’m proud of the glorious history of Bihar. I don’t need a reason.
@kumarprakash4u: You are asking Narendra Modi to apologies. What do you say about the indescent language used by Lalu ji for you?
@NitishKumar: Not asking to apologies, we want him to take back the words.
@prabhakar007: Nitish ji, how will u shed the baggage of RJD’s image.. it overpowers ur ‘sushan ki chavi’
@NitishKumar: Don’t worry. The future of Bihar is safe.
